Rosewood Amsterdam: Our Experience
Our recent stay at the newly opened Rosewood Amsterdam coincided with the Rosewood Kindred 2025 event, an exclusive gathering of the world’s top 100 Rosewood Elite advisors alongside influential leaders in the travel industry.
From the moment we arrived, the hotel impressed with impeccable service, rich cultural touches, and an artful approach to modern luxury. In this blog, we’ll share a complete firsthand look at our experience, from seamless arrival and thoughtfully designed rooms to dining, wellness, and curated Amsterdam adventures, highlighting everything that makes Rosewood Amsterdam a must-visit destination.
Arrival & Pre-Stay Experience
From landing at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the experience was seamless. Our driver, a local with a wealth of knowledge, called and texted to confirm location and met us just beyond customs with a “Rosewood” sign. The 20-minute ride in a Mercedes sedan was not only comfortable but full of personal insights about the city. Pre-booking transportation is recommended, though the hotel does not currently offer complimentary transfers. We can always assist in coordinating your arrival through our Hotel Plus service.
Upon arrival at the hotel, several staff members greeted us outside and escorted us through the lobby, which houses a charming in-house flower shop. Guests can choose the color of flowers to be arranged in their room; a lovely, personalized touch. Check-in took place in a dedicated suite with light bites and refreshments while our room was being prepared. Once ready, we were escorted to our room and given a walk-through of the amenities and layout. Throughout our stay, communication with the team was easy via WhatsApp, QR code, or the in-room phone.
Rooms & Accommodations at Rosewood Amsterdam
Rosewood Amsterdam has 134 individually designed rooms, each with its own unique personality. We stayed in a first-floor room tucked away from the main areas (either Deluxe or Premier), which was spacious and comfortable but not particularly “wow.” Street-level rooms may be noisier, so upper floors are recommended for serenity.
Highlights across all rooms include:
-
600-thread Rivolta Carmignani linens and pillow menu
-
Votary bath amenities, heated bathroom floors, Dyson hair dryers
-
Complimentary Veloretti bicycles (in-room reservations recommended)
-
24-hour in-room dining and full spa/fitness access
-
Bathtub and walk-in shower options vary by room type
-
Suites and houses include butler service and larger accommodations for families
Standout rooms for views and outdoor space:
-
Rooftop Terrace Suite / Rooftop House: panoramic skyline views, outdoor terraces
-
Two-Bedroom Executive Suite: up to four guests with two king beds and two full baths
-
Huis 020 & Library House: large, residential-style accommodations
For families, connection options are available, and younger children are well-catered for with the Rosewood Explorer’s Program, pool hours, plush mascots, and in-room activities.
Culinary Experiences
The property offers three distinct outlets:
-
Eeuwen: fine dining with seasonal Dutch cuisine; also serves breakfast (included with Rosewood Elite perks)
-
Advocatuur: speakeasy-inspired bar with house-distilled jenever cocktails and tandoor dishes
-
The Court: café lounge for pastries, coffee, and casual grab-and-go options
Other noteworthy experiences include 24-hour in-room dining, curated in-house cocktail and gin experiences, and unique culinary events tied to Rosewood’s new global openings.
Wellness & Activities
Rosewood Amsterdam excels in wellness and local immersion:
-
Spa & Fitness: Asaya Spa with skylit pool, sauna, steam room, and treatments from Subtle Energies, Barbara Sturm, and The|Tides. View the full treatment menu here.
-
Indoor Heated Pool: 12 meters with a jacuzzi
-
Fitness: state-of-the-art gym and optional in-room fitness gear (5 lb dumbbells, yoga mats available on request)
-
Local Immersion: private canal tours on the 1924 salon boat, cycling along Prinsengracht, and curated city experiences
Family-friendly touches include in-room activities, pool hours, and programming for younger kids, although older children may find the offerings limited.
Art, Design & Cultural Programming
Art is the heart of Rosewood Amsterdam:
-
Nearly 1,000 curated artworks, largely by Dutch artists or alumni of local art programs
-
Resident artists rotate monthly with exhibits in the hotel gallery
-
Private art tours are available through the concierge
-
Ex Libris Lounge & Grand Library hosts literary evenings, tasting events, and rotating exhibitions
The hotel occupies the former Palace of Justice, a 350-year-old heritage building that has been restored over the past decade, blending history with modern luxury and wellness. Collaborations with Chanel, Porsche, and Audemars Piguet bring a cosmopolitan flair.
About the Destination
Located along the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam’s historic canal district, Rosewood Amsterdam embodies a spirit of rebirth. The former Palace of Justice has been transformed into a vibrant cultural landmark, rich with fascinating stories and unique experiences. Guests can enjoy indulgent dining, bespoke excursions, and wellness, all while celebrating the city’s stunning architecture and canals.
Amsterdam is best discovered on foot, where every bridge, canal, and flower box feels like a postcard. Early autumn brings crisp, mild temperatures with refreshing breezes off the water. September days range from the low 60s to the high 60s°F, often mixing golden sunlight with passing showers. Meanwhile, evenings cool comfortably, inviting light layers for strolls along historic streets and cozy cafés.
The hotel operates on Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2) during daylight saving time.

Kindred 2025 Experience
Attending Rosewood Kindred 2025 was not only a privilege but also a rare opportunity. This invitation-only gathering brought together the top 100 Rosewood Elite advisors worldwide, a hand-selected group recognized for excellence in luxury travel, alongside Rosewood leadership and some of the most influential voices shaping the future of our industry. The exclusivity of the event created an intimate environment where meaningful conversations could flourish, from private sessions with Sonya Cheng (CEO) and Radha Arora (President) to roundtable discussions with global partners and tastemakers.
Beyond the immersive programming, the true value of Kindred lay in its exchange of ideas. Meeting face-to-face with Rosewood executives, hoteliers, and fellow advisors allowed us to deepen relationships, gain firsthand insights into upcoming properties, and understand how Rosewood continues to set benchmarks for culture-driven hospitality. These connections directly benefit our clients, ensuring they remain at the top of the VIP list, receive access to unique experiences, and enjoy thoughtful touches that only come from trusted partnerships built at this level.
Highlights & Recommendations
Best for: art lovers, design enthusiasts, couples, stylish families
Recommended stay: 3–4 nights
Best time to visit: spring through early autumn for canals and gardens at their peak
Must-book experiences: Rooftop Terrace Suite, salon boat cruise, private art tours
Service notes: generally excellent, though room service was occasionally slow and some pre-arrival requests were missed, but we anticipate these issues being ironed out after a few months
Compared to other Amsterdam luxury hotels, such as Pulitzer Amsterdam, Rosewood excels in its spa, design, art immersion, and curated local experiences. Lower-floor rooms are functional but less impressive; the signature experience is reserved for upper-floor or suite accommodations.
