Four Seasons Maui at Wailea in Hawaii

Is Four Seasons Maui Right For You?

Four Seasons Maui is our most popular destination for couples, especially honeymooners. Guests celebrating a special occasion should indulge in everything the property has to offer, especially the adults-only sanctuary pool and the spa. And, for a little adventure, be sure to give the outrigger canoeing a whirl! We’re happy to provide a full review of our stay here.

Why Four Seasons Maui is so popular:

  • No resort fee; world‑class service; best for couples & families seeking polished luxury.
  • Three pools (Adult/Serenity 21+, Fountain 24/7, Waterfall with slide).
  • Dining: Spago, Ferraro’s, DUO (breakfast & dinner), KOMO, Beachwalk Café + Lobby Lounge.
  • Kids For All Seasons is complimentary; Camp Manitou appears seasonally.
  • Best value rooms: Deluxe Ocean-View; avoid the Mountainside if views are a priority.

Often our highest-selling hotel in the world, Four Seasons Maui at Wailea has a strong following of loyal fans, and our clients often return year after year. But we’ve learned that it’s not for everyone. While most people are hard-pressed to find a complaint about the hotel’s staff and high level of service, some individuals may not like the resort’s layout or the “see and be seen” ambiance. Given its existing popularity, it makes sense that the hotel was chosen as the setting for Season 1 of HBO’s White Lotus.

Top-Notch Accommodations

The resort is centered around a U-shape building and your room selection is important here. The entry-level rooms, called Mountainside, do come with a lower rate, but you get what you pay for with the view. Chances are likely that you could spend your trip looking at a tennis court or the top of a parking garage. Definitely book the Garden rooms or higher. For a real wow factor, the Ocean-View Prime One-Bedroom Suites are the place to be! Preferred Partner guests will receive a room upgrade whenever possible, but this is a popular resort and upgrades are frequently unavailable. Book the room that you want; don’t count on that upgrade!

The rooms are both spacious and contemporary, adorned with Hawaiian artwork and captivating textures and patterns. Twice-daily housekeeping with evening turndown service and a welcome amenity are included. Each room comes with a spacious private lanai furnished with outdoor lounge furniture, which is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning tea or coffee.

Pro tip: We recommend the Deluxe Ocean-View rooms for the most desirable views of the Pacific Ocean.

5-Star Service & Hotel Amenities

Top-notch luxury service is the real highlight here. The Four Seasons Maui does not charge a resort fee, and you will never feel “nickel and dimed.” Despite the lack of a resort fee, the hotel offers everything you would expect and more! There are three pools here. If you’re traveling with kids, the Waterfall Pool has a small waterslide and a section for toddlers, and the Fountain Pool is closest to the beach for convenience. Beach and pool service (water, sunscreen, towels, etc) is complimentary, and the attendants walk around regularly handing out small treats and refreshments. For a more exclusive pool experience, check out the adults-only Serenity pool, but book a cabana in advance; This area fills up fast! If you are traveling with kids you will want to take advantage of the Kids For All Seasons program (also complimentary) or Camp Manitou, a day camp for tweens and teens ages 9-17. You will definitely feel pampered throughout your stay here!

Four Seasons Maui is situated on a beautiful beach. Mornings at Wailea Beach start out calm, which is perfect for snorkeling (we were lucky enough to see a sea turtle), swimming, and paddleboarding. The afternoons bring tradewind-driven waves, great for surfing and boogie boarding.

At the resort, you’ll find three outstanding restaurants – Spago, Duo, and Ferraro’s. Spago serves Hawaiian and Californian cuisine and is overseen by Master Chef Wolfgang Puck. It is also a Forbes Four-Star and AAA Four-Diamond restaurant. Duo is the spot for fresh steak and seafood and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and if you’re craving Italian, we highly recommend Ferraro’s. You can also enjoy poolside dining, room service, and Beach Walk Cafe for convenient meals and drinks throughout your stay.

For golf enthusiasts, there are three 18-hole championship courses to choose from (yes, three!). They all offer stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and are suitable for all playing levels. Golf clubs are available for rent, and you can also sign up for private lessons and be trained by an expert.

Maui is a Hotspot for Activities

One of our favorite off-property activities is Maui Brewing Company. Maui Brewing Company is located just 10-15 minutes from the Wailea area resorts. It offers a brewery tour, tasting flights, a restaurant with a fun Hawaiian pub-style menu, and live music. They also have a brewpub in Lahaina.

Watching the sunrise at Haleakala should definitely be added to your bucket list. You can do this on your own with a rental car or join a tour. We recommend the downhill bike tours – they bus you up to the peak for sunrise viewing and then you bike your way down with a stop for a breakfast picnic along the way. Pre-booking is now required by the National Park Service so plan ahead for this one! Our Hotel Plus team is happy to assist with any booking arrangements for your trip.

Pro tip: If your trip only allows for time on one island, Maui is a great choice because it offers a little bit of everything. The activity selection is broad, and visitors can enjoy beautiful beaches, quality snorkeling, great hikes and drives, good shopping, and excellent dining!
