Madeline Hotel and Residences by Auberge Resorts in Telluride is a Forbes five-star resort and exclusive Virtuoso property. Located in southwest Colorado, Telluride is considered one of the best ski towns in the United States. Its splendid alpine beauty has been attracting adventure-hungry visitors to Telluride for years. The fact that only about 2,000 residents live in the area enhances its exclusivity. The hotel has 83 newly renovated rooms and 71 residences. These accommodations give guests an incredible view of the San Juan Mountains and the Mountain Village.
Arrival and Flights
When visiting Madeline Hotel and Residences, most people prefer flying into Montrose Airport (MTJ) and driving to the resort over flying into Telluride’s airport (TEX). This is particularly convenient during the winter months. The weather can inhibit the performance of the smaller planes flying into the much smaller Telluride airport. Not to mention, Telluride airport has one of the shortest runways in North America. Montrose Airport’s mainline passenger jets provide the most convenient access route to Telluride’s popular ski areas.
No need to rent a car as the hotel grounds and surrounding village are easily walkable. Guests can also take a 10-minute gondola ride into town daily from 7 am to midnight. This complimentary gondola public transport system was built in 1996 and is the only one of its kind in North America.
We recommend staying for 3-5 nights to ensure enough time to enjoy some relaxation as well as adventure. We always propose booking as far in advance as possible to lock in pricing and availability. The Penthouse and Residence accommodations sell out particularly fast, especially during the winter months! However, you can check out our guide to planning ahead for travel to ease your preparations.

Check-In
Upon arrival, guests are greeted with their choice of champagne or hard cider as a welcome drink and a reusable water bottle to use throughout their stay. Guests always have access to chlorophyll, charcoal, and filtered water available in the lobby to combat altitude sickness. After a quick tour of the main areas of the hotel, we were escorted to our room.

Accommodations
Madeline’s rooms are equipped with fireplaces, kitchenettes, and balconies that give you a perfect view of the Mountain Village. In addition, other notable features include steam showers, deep-soaking bathtubs, and adventure bars.
However, if you’re looking for more space, the residences are ski-in and ski-out and offer the space and comforts of home with the amenities and services of the hotel. The residences range from one to four bedrooms with a full gourmet kitchen, inviting living and dining areas, washer/dryer, and a gas fireplace. The residences vary in size from 1,200 to 3,900 square feet, based on the number of rooms. What better way to relax than from the comfort of your own residence with views of the San Juan Mountains or the ice skating rink.
Personal Services for Residences include:

Food and Drink
Be sure to try some of Madeline’s hearty cuisines made with a modern touch. You can order breakfast, lunch, or dinner, as well as a Sunday brunch at Black Iron Kitchen and Bar. While at Black Iron, you can relax around the fire tables or congregate with other guests at the social hub, which is located in the Timber Room. Their chefs can personalize the hotel menu to match your occasion, especially if you want to share a romantic meal with a loved one. We recommend the baked potato with crème fraîche and caviar and the Rocky Mountain Elk Loin with local huckleberry jus. During the winter, they have fire pits in the alfresco area; providing sheepskin blankets to cozy up in while sipping drinks and chatting.
Pro-tip: If you’re looking for a local spot to enjoy lunch or dinner in town — Brown Dog Pizza was excellent!

Facilities
Madeline Hotel and Residences is located in the ski village of Telluride and sits practically at the base of the lift. It resembles a Swiss chateau full of colorful artwork and mountain-inspired touches. If you want to head into town, it will only take 30 seconds to walk to the gondola from the hotel, with a lift ticket sale point just beneath it if you’re hitting the slopes. Otherwise, rides on the gondola are complimentary!
The ability to reserve your skiing equipment prior to your arrival from an in-house ski rental shop adds to the convenience. During a day of relaxation, you can enjoy the heated pool and jacuzzi.
Pro-tip: A trip to Telluride in the summer months is also enjoyable, as the Madeline Hotel is the only hotel in Telluride with air conditioning.
