Meg from Team O recently had the opportunity to experience Regent Porto Montenegro firsthand and describes the experience as diving headfirst into luxury while being surrounded by the most breathtaking water views. This destination is perfect for visitors who want to be on the water in a new and different destination off the beaten path (for now). Imagine an abundance of pools to splash around in, a marina so massive it can host the grandest of yachts, and spacious rooms, perfect for families who want to stay together but still crave a bit of privacy.
And let’s talk about Porto Montenegro itself – it’s huge! You’ve got chic shopping avenues, beach bars that set the vibe just right, and a dining scene that’ll leave you spoiled for choice – it’s a whole world within itself. And Regent Porto Montenegro is at the center of all the action. The vision for Porto Montenegro’s expansion is ambitious, with plans to increase yacht slips from 150 to a staggering 800, capable of accommodating the largest yachts globally. Furthermore, over the next decade, there are plans to add more residences and retail units, which promises to elevate the entire community into a world-class destination.
Montenegro, in the southeastern region of Europe, neighbors the tourist hotspots of Croatia, Greece, and Italy, yet remains an undiscovered destination of untouched beauty and nature. Embracing a sense of escape and charm, Montenegro beckons all European visitors to include it in their itinerary.
The hotel is conveniently located near major airports, including Tivat Airport (2 miles/3.8 kilometers by car), Dubrovnik Airport (30 miles/47 kilometers by car), and Podgorica Airport (50 miles/80 kilometers by car). Meg personally flew into Dubrovnik airport via Vueling Airlines from Rome on a quick one-hour flight and upon arrival, was transported by a hotel chauffeur for the 45-minute transfer, which included a very quick ferry ride where she stayed in the parked car.
If traveling by yacht, you can easily cruise the waters of the central Mediterranean region. The marina is only a few nautical miles inland from the mouth of Boka Bay. The resort used to have a helipad, but it has since shut down due to the close proximity to the airport. Private jet transfers can also be arranged per your request. Contact our team for more information about pricing and availability.
Pro Tip: July and August mark the high season in Montenegro when the weather is at its warmest and the coastal towns and beach clubs come alive with vibrant energy. However, for travelers seeking a quieter experience, shoulder seasons offer a more relaxed atmosphere and lower prices while still providing pleasant weather.
As previously mentioned, Regent Porto Montenegro is centrally located within the luxury complex of Porto Montenegro which includes lots of high-end shops, condominiums, restaurants, and yacht slips — designed and constructed as a comprehensive mixed-use community.
The hotel offers spectacular views of the port and yacht slips with perfectly placed sunsets and direct access to the mile-long promenade along the wharf.
The hotel consists of three large six-story buildings set side by side, right at the marina.
- The main, original building, called the Venetian, is a golden colonial-style edifice with interiors done in a low-key classical Italian style and based on a nautical theme. The Venetian houses reception, the lobby, the five restaurants, the in-house bakery/cafe, two bars, the spa, a small gym, and half the guest rooms.
- The two new adjacent buildings, called Bahia and Aqua, are both white and done in a more contemporary design and style. Aqua building is connected to the Venetian building by a short interior hallway, which design-wise, makes the transition between the two interior styles. Bahia and Aqua buildings flank either side of the hotel’s large outdoor, white-stone pool plaza, with infinity-style pools set on two levels, looking directly at the marina.
Regent Porto’s 130 accommodations come in five categories: Superior, Deluxe, Jr. Suites, 1-bedroom Suites, 2-bedroom Suites, a sole 2-bedroom Penthouse and one 3-bedroom Penthouse. All units have a balcony, though of varying sizes, depending on the room category.
The Standard Premium Rooms have views of the side of the building, face the grassland and mountain areas, and are located in the Venetian building.
Rooms in the original Venetian building are done with more classic Italian furnishings, while rooms in Aqua and Bahia have more contemporary furnishings. Guests who prefer to be closer to the pools may want to request a room at the Regent Pool Club Residences, Regent’s sister property. The room experience is the same, however, the Residences are a much closer distance to the main pool area.
The 1 and 2-bedroom Suites have a spacious, open-plan living room/dining room/fully equipped kitchen, large walk-in closets, and an extra half bath. Living rooms have a functioning fireplace for cold winter days.
The two Penthouses are set on the top floor. They are set side-by-side and have a private elevator that opens into a private lobby with the doors to each Penthouse accessed from there, thus setting them apart from the other hotel rooms. Penthouses are laid out like a house. The front door opens into a wide wood hallway with all the rooms set off the hall. Otherwise, they are basically larger versions of the 2-bedroom Suites. They also have massive wrap-around balconies with sitting areas, a large tiled whirlpool, and phenomenal views over the marina and Tivat Bay.
Regent Porto Montenegro shares pool and spa amenities with its connecting sister property, the Regent Pool Club Residences, and the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club. With four pools —a feature pool, a lap pool, two children’s pools, and a laid-back atmosphere, the Pool Club is a family-friendly space for soaking up the sun. Go for a swim, relax in a sunbed, and enjoy fresh Mediterranean fare, poolside.
Hotel guests receive discounts at the Yacht Club and its famous, Instagram-worthy pool at Buddha Beach, discounted rates for yacht parking, and discounts at the onsite restaurants.
Within the hotel itself are three restaurants, a pool bar, and a library bar. The restaurants offer a variety of Mediterranean menus. Within walking distance along the promenade or the pedestrian streets, there are several other dining options to choose from.
The Regent Spa features a 20-meter indoor and outdoor infinity pool and offers guests an opportunity to experience a traditional Finnish sauna or hammam (Turkish bath) before treatments.
For gym junkies, there is a spacious indoor gym with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. Personal trainers as well as group and individual yoga classes are available upon request.
Meg describes Montenegro as a safe, undiscovered destination that should be part of any European circuit. Montenegro, known as the “black mountain” by locals, invites seasoned European travelers seeking an off-the-beaten-track adventure. With historical sites, stunning beaches, serene lakes, snow and water sports, and enchanting spas, it offers a unique blend of activities and attractions. The country is known for its friendly locals and its well-organized holiday resorts. Montenegro’s currency is the Euro, which is readily available and makes shopping and traveling within the country easy for visitors.
Since its independence, Montenegro has been developing its tourist industry rapidly and renovating its infrastructure, including roads, buildings, and public utilities. The country’s diverse landscape, consisting of mountains, gorges, and captivating coastal scenery, makes it a hotspot for outdoor enthusiasts. Despite being one of the world’s smallest countries, Montenegro boasts a rich cultural heritage with marvelous churches, monasteries, and folk arts. For those looking for a quieter yet vibrant escape, Montenegro’s tranquil charm might just be the perfect destination.
