Things to Consider Before Booking..

You want a private beach.
Kalesma does not have a private beach, although guests enjoy complimentary access to Ornos and Agios Ioannis, with transportation available. If direct beach access is a priority, explore our firsthand Four Seasons Mykonos review  for another luxury option on the island.

You are traveling with children and want extensive kids’ programming.
Families are welcome, and select suites accommodate two adults and two children under 12, but Kalesma does not have a kids’ club. Families seeking a dedicated kids’ club or more extensive children’s programming may also want to explore Four Seasons Mykonos or Santa Marina.

You want a lively atmosphere all day.
Kalesma is deliberately calm. For a more energetic, beach-club-oriented experience, we would choose Fouquet’s Mykonos.

You want a large resort with extensive facilities.
Kalesma is intentionally small and easy to navigate on foot. Travelers looking for multiple pools, a private beach, extensive programming, and the scale of a full-service resort may prefer somewhere else.

You want to walk everywhere.
The hillside location means you will rely on the hotel’s complimentary shuttle, a car, or private transportation to get around rather than walking directly into town.

Kalesma sits in Aleomandra, a residential area between Ornos and Agios Ioannis on Mykonos’ southwestern side. The hotel is perched on a hillside overlooking Ornos Bay, with views across the Aegean toward Delos. It is one of the island’s quieter corners, but the location is still remarkably convenient.

Mykonos Town is about 10 minutes away by car, Ornos Beach is roughly five minutes away, and both the airport and port are approximately 15 minutes away. During our stay, traffic heading toward Mykonos Town could be quite heavy, but the drive into Aleomandra generally moved in the opposite direction, making the drive back to Kalesma surprisingly easy.

The location also offers some protection from the famous Mykonos winds. Ornos and the island’s southwestern side are among the more sheltered areas during the Meltemi season, another advantage of this part of the island.

Getting to Mykonos

For most travelers coming from the United States, reaching Mykonos requires a connection, typically through Athens. No regular nonstop flights run from the U.S. to Mykonos, so we recommend building in some flexibility when planning your arrival.

Once you land, however, the final transfer to Kalesma is easy. The drive from Mykonos Airport takes around 15 minutes, and some Kalesma promotional packages include complimentary airport transfers.

Getting Around Kalesma

Getting around Kalesma and beyond is easy, with several transportation options available depending on how you want to spend your time. The hotel’s scheduled shuttle service offers complimentary transportation to Mykonos Town and Ornos at set times throughout the day. Electric golf carts around the property make it easy to get between your accommodation and the hotel’s restaurants, pool, beach area, and other spaces.

For exploring further afield, Kalesma can also arrange private chauffeur services, yacht charters, and helicopter transfers. Whether you are heading into town for dinner, spending the afternoon on the water, or arriving by helicopter, the hotel offers plenty of ways to get around the island beyond the standard shuttle service.

The arrival at Kalesma is relaxed from the moment you leave the airport. Our transfer took about 15 minutes, even during a busy time of day when traffic heading toward Mykonos Town was backed up. Because Kalesma sits in Aleomandra, we were moving away from much of that congestion rather than into it.

Our driver waited promptly at the airport and made the short ride feel more like the start of the trip than a simple airport transfer, sharing stories about the island along the way. Some Kalesma packages include complimentary airport transfers, and you can also arrange private transportation.

Check-in was equally easy. We were offered a refreshing ginger-and-honey drink and invited to relax outside while the team finished the check-in process. Rather than keeping us inside at a reception desk, they brought us into the open-air setting almost immediately, where we could take in the views.

Once everything was ready, they escorted us to our suite and showed us how to use the television and in-room tablet. The tablet is useful for accessing hotel information and services without calling the front desk for every request.

Our welcome amenity included a bottle of Cretan white wine, Amargiotakis Winery Vidiano, along with an assortment of sweets including baklava, macarons, fudge, and shortbread. A carafe of the same ginger and honey drink from arrival was waiting in the room as well.

The bathrooms are stocked with Frédéric Malle toiletries, another small detail that fits the property’s overall approach to luxury without making the arrival feel overly formal.

The first impression is perhaps the most important part of arriving at Kalesma: this does not feel like a conventional hotel. The property is designed more like a private Cycladic village, with whitewashed buildings, curved forms, and spaces that flow naturally between indoors and out. Even the indoor areas feel closely connected to the surrounding landscape, so the transition from the road to the room feels almost immediate.

Communicating With Kalesma While On Property

The easiest way to communicate with the Kalesma team during your stay is through WhatsApp. We found this particularly convenient for making requests, asking questions, and coordinating with the hotel without needing to call the front desk each time.

The in-room tablet is also available for accessing hotel information and services, while the team can be reached directly when needed. For transportation around the property, electric golf carts are available, although Kalesma is compact enough that most areas are easily reached on foot.

Kalesma reopened for the 2026 season with four new accommodations, adding Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites to a property that was originally built around spacious suites and villas with private pools. With 52 accommodations now in total, the expanded collection offers travelers greater flexibility in how they experience Kalesma, while the original suites and villas continue to offer the property’s signature private-pool experience.

The expanded accommodation collection gives travelers more ways to experience Kalesma. The Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites are particularly appealing for guests who plan to spend their days exploring Mykonos, while the original suites and villas offer generous outdoor living spaces and heated private pools that make the hotel itself a central part of the stay.

Accessible suites are also available; confirm specific configurations directly with the hotel.

Our Kalesma Suite

We stayed in a Kalesma Suite with Sea View & Private Pool, and the view was the standout feature. The heated infinity pool is large enough to feel like a proper private swimming pool rather than a decorative plunge pool, and the position overlooking the Aegean and Ornos Bay made the outdoor space somewhere we could easily spend an entire afternoon.

The outdoor space is also significantly larger than the pool alone. Just outside the suite is a small dining nook, while a separate corner of the terrace has its own dining table and outdoor sink, creating another area for longer meals or relaxed afternoons outside.

Inside, the suite has a bathtub with views toward the pool, and one of our favorite details was the window positioned directly beside the tub. It creates a particularly nice connection between the bathroom and the landscape without sacrificing privacy.

The suite also includes a walk-in shower, outdoor shower, outdoor kitchen, two separate dining areas, lounge space, Nespresso machine, complimentary water, juices and soft drinks, an integrated sound system, and an in-room tablet. The private pool is heated, which is especially useful outside the hottest months.

A welcome amenity awaited us on arrival, including Cretan white wine, a handwritten note, and a two-tiered stand filled with macarons, fudge, chocolate, shortbread, and other sweets.

The larger suites are designed so that the room itself can be part of the day’s itinerary. We could have breakfast, swim, read, have lunch outside, and watch the view change without feeling confined to a bedroom all day.

The Most Important Room-Category Detail at Kalesma

If you are booking Kalesma primarily for the view, pay close attention to the room category.

Every accommodation has some form of sea view, but not all are the same. The standard Kalesma Suite has a partial sea view, while the Kalesma Suite with Sea View & Private Pool offers a more expansive view. The difference is particularly noticeable when you are sitting in the private pool.

This is one of those cases where the category name matters more than simply seeing a beautiful room photo online. If the view from your pool is one of the main reasons you are choosing Kalesma, we’d book the Sea View & Private Pool category rather than assuming every private-pool suite has the same outlook.

The new Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites are a meaningful addition for travelers who will be out exploring most of the day. They are roughly half the interior size of the original Kalesma Suite and do not offer the same private-pool experience, but they provide a lower-cost entry point into the hotel.

For a honeymoon or a stay where the hotel itself is part of the destination, we would choose one of the original private-pool categories. For a shorter stay built around beach clubs, dinners, and exploring Mykonos, the new categories make Kalesma considerably more accessible.

Our Take: For most couples, the biggest decision is not simply whether to book a room with a pool. It is whether the view from that pool matters enough to justify moving into the Sea View & Private Pool category. The standard Kalesma Suite has a partial sea view, while the Sea View & Private Pool category gives you the more expansive outlook that made our stay so memorable.

The new Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites are also worth considering if you plan to spend most of your time exploring Mykonos. They offer a considerably more accessible way to stay at Kalesma, while the larger suites and villas make the accommodation itself much more of the experience.

All private pools at Kalesma are heated, which is an especially useful detail for travelers considering the property during the shoulder seasons.

Kalesma has two freshwater infinity pools, and both are designed around the views rather than a beach-club atmosphere. Both main pools are heated and overlook Ornos Bay, offering a front-row seat to the changing light across the Aegean.

The upper pool, near Pere Ubu and the main breakfast area, is the quieter of the two. We’d go there for a slower afternoon, especially if the goal is to read, swim, or simply enjoy the view without much activity around you.

The lower pool, next to Kuveda, feels more social. The new 2026 accommodations around this part of the property mean more rooms and guests nearby, so this pool naturally has a little more energy. Even so, Kalesma is not a beach-club hotel, and neither pool has the loud, all-day party atmosphere you will find at some of Mykonos’ better-known properties.

The size of the private pools is also worth noting. Our suite’s heated infinity pool was large enough to swim in, and its size, position, and view were among the highlights of our stay.

Does Kalesma Have a Beach?

No. Kalesma does not have a private beach, and the hotel is not directly on the water.

Guests do, however, receive complimentary access to nearby Ornos Beach and Agios Ioannis Beach, along with complimentary transportation. Ornos is approximately five minutes from the hotel, making a beach afternoon easy to arrange without giving up Kalesma’s quieter hillside setting.

That distinction matters when choosing a hotel. If you want your private pool, room, and view to be the centerpiece of your stay, the lack of a private beach is unlikely to be a major issue. If walking directly from your hotel to the beach is one of your top priorities, consider a beachfront property such as Four Seasons Mykonos instead.

Kalesma has three primary dining and drinking spaces, along with 24-hour in-room dining and private dining options. The main restaurants have distinct personalities, so dining here doesn’t feel like choosing between several versions of the same resort menu.

Pere Ubu

Pere Ubu is Kalesma’s main restaurant and the property’s all-day dining destination, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu draws on Greek and Mediterranean cooking with a strong Cycladic influence, and the open kitchen adds to the space’s relaxed feel. A sea-view terrace also makes the restaurant particularly appealing at breakfast and around sunset.

One of our favorite meals at Kalesma was actually breakfast at Pere Ubu. It was our favorite breakfast of the entire Greece trip. We ordered scrambled eggs on toast with avocado, fresh orange juice, and a green juice, along with our first freddo espressos of the trip.

The service also showed up in small ways. We asked for mandarin oranges, and instead of bringing a few pieces of fruit, the team returned with a freshly sliced plate of mandarins. It was a small gesture, but exactly the kind of detail that makes a hotel breakfast feel personal.

Dinner at Pere Ubu is a more substantial Greek-Mediterranean experience. During our stay, we tried hummus topped with chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon, roasted sesame, roasted garlic, pine nuts, dates, and olives; grilled octopus with spiced orange and a Santorini sweet wine dressing, giant beans, and peach vinegar; and beef and lamb kebab sticks wrapped in lamb caul fat with spiced yogurt and date and soutzouki purée. The sales manager’s personal favorite was the lamb chops, which are worth keeping in mind when ordering.

Pere Ubu also accepts non-hotel guests by reservation, making it one of the parts of Kalesma you can experience even if you are not staying overnight.

Kuveda

Kuveda is the newer dining space beside the lower pool and takes inspiration from the traditional Greek kafeneio. The approach is more casual, with meze, local ingredients, and dishes designed to be shared.

Its position next to the lower pool gives this side of the hotel a slightly more social atmosphere than Pere Ubu and the upper pool. Kuveda also has a children’s menu, which is useful for families staying at Kalesma.

Kuveda is open for lunch daily from 12:00 to 8:00 pm. 

Aloni Sunset Lounge

Aloni is Kalesma’s sunset spot, with craft cocktails made using local ingredients and signature drinks designed around the setting. The lounge looks toward the Aegean and Delos, making golden hour the obvious time to visit.

Similar to Pere Ubu, Aloni is open to the public. For us, the sunset lounge is less about making a formal evening of it and more about having a drink while watching the sky change over the water.

In-Room Dining

For nights when the view from your own terrace sounds better than another restaurant, Kalesma offers 24-hour room service and private dining. Certain packages also include daily à la carte breakfast served in the room.

The Kalesma Spa takes a different approach to wellness than a traditional resort spa. The philosophy combines ancient Greek traditions with contemporary treatments, while making the surrounding landscape and Aegean light part of the experience.

The indoor spa has two private treatment rooms, each equipped with Gharieni treatment beds and private showers. There is also a KLAFS sauna and steam room, along with a Brass Monkey cold plunge. Treatments include Dr. Barbara Sturm, giving guests the option to combine more traditional spa rituals with modern skincare and wellness treatments.

Open-Air Wellness Sanctuary

New for 2026 is Kalesma’s Open-Air Wellness Sanctuary, which brings the spa experience outside. The sanctuary has two outdoor treatment areas and hydrotherapy facilities designed around the surrounding landscape, allowing treatments to take place with the Aegean setting directly around you.

Kalesma has also introduced Beau Domaine treatments. The skincare line, co-founded by Brad Pitt and the Perrin family, is part of the property’s expanded wellness offering. Kalesma is its first hotel partnership in Greece, although we recommend confirming this detail with the hotel when booking, as partnerships can change.

The overall approach has a little of the immersive wellness philosophy we associate with properties such as Miraval, but Kalesma keeps it firmly connected to Mykonos. The focus is less on a dedicated wellness retreat and more on incorporating treatments, movement, hydrotherapy, and time outdoors into a luxury island stay.

Fitness and Movement

The fitness area uses Technogym equipment, and guests can also arrange private yoga, Pilates, personal training, and outdoor movement sessions.

For travelers who want wellness as part of their Mykonos itinerary without spending their entire vacation at a wellness resort, this offers a particularly good balance.

Kalesma offers a range of experiences beyond the usual resort activities, with a particular emphasis on Greek culture, local traditions, food, and the surrounding landscape. The program changes seasonally, so we recommend checking the complimentary activity calendar before your stay.

Weaving and Greek Craft

Located directly across from reception, the weaving and textile space is the result of a collaboration with textile artist Faye Chatzi. Guests can discover her work, learn more about traditional weaving techniques, and, depending on the programming, take part in craft-led experiences connected to Mykonian heritage. It offers a more tactile way to engage with the island’s traditional craftsmanship alongside the hotel’s contemporary Cycladic design.

Cooking, Wine, and Local Traditions

Guests can take part in hands-on Greek cooking experiences using local produce alongside the culinary team, as well as wine tastings.

The 2026 calendar expands beyond food and crafts into seasonal traditions, including harvest celebrations, Meltemi evenings, and experiences centered on reviving and reinterpreting traditional threshing and grape-harvest rituals. Tailored cultural explorations are also available for guests who want to see more of the island beyond the hotel.

Meet Apollo

One of the more charming parts of daily life at Kalesma is Apollo, the property’s resident horse. He appears around the hotel each day and has become a memorable part of the experience, connecting Kalesma to Mykonos beyond its beaches and nightlife. His presence reflects the island’s rural rhythm and living traditions, adding a quieter, more authentic sense of place to the property.

Horseback riding can also be arranged through an external provider for guests interested in exploring the island on horseback, though these rides do not take place at Kalesma with Apollo.

Out on the Aegean

For travelers who want to spend time on the water, Kalesma can arrange private yacht charters. The concierge can also organize island tours, horseback riding, and other customized excursions.

Helicopter transfers are also available for travelers who want a particularly quick arrival or departure, while Mykonos Town is close enough that exploring its restaurants, shops, and nightlife is easy to incorporate into a stay.

A Few Practical Details

Kalesma is open seasonally from April through October and is pet-friendly. The property is small enough to explore comfortably on foot, although electric golf carts are available for transportation around the hotel.

Non-hotel guests can also access certain parts of the property. Pere Ubu accepts outside guests by reservation, and select wellness experiences are available to non-residents as well.

The hotel describes its name, Kalesma, as an invitation, and the experiences program fits that idea well. Rather than simply providing a schedule of activities to fill time, the offerings give guests different ways to connect with Mykonos’s food, crafts, traditions, and landscape.

Kalesma is a very different proposition from the other luxury hotels we experienced during our Mykonos trip. None is objectively better across the board. They are designed around different kinds of stays, so the right choice depends on what matters most to you.

Kalesma vs. Four Seasons Mykonos

Kalesma is the better choice for couples who prioritize privacy, views, private pools, and a quieter atmosphere. Four Seasons Mykonos is the stronger all-around resort, particularly for travelers who want a private beach, more extensive facilities, and a stronger family offering.

For views, we would put Kalesma and Santa Marina in a tie for the top spot. Travelers prioritizing direct beach access and extensive resort facilities may find Four Seasons particularly appealing, while Kalesma offers a more intimate, private-pool-focused experience.

Kalesma vs. Fouquet’s Mykonos

These two properties offer almost opposite versions of a Mykonos stay. Kalesma is quiet, residential, and removed from the island’s busiest energy, while Fouquet’s suits travelers who want a livelier atmosphere and a stronger connection to the beach-club scene.

For privacy, romance, and a peaceful retreat, we would choose Kalesma. For energy, social atmosphere, and nightlife, Fouquet’s is the better fit.

Kalesma vs. Santa Marina

Kalesma and Santa Marina tied for our top spot for views, but the overall experience differs. Kalesma is smaller and more intimate, with private pools and a residential Cycladic feel. Santa Marina offers a more traditional resort experience with a private sandy beach and strong family appeal.

For couples, privacy, and private-pool living, Kalesma has the edge. For a private beach and families, Santa Marina makes more sense.

Our Take

After experiencing all five properties on the same Mykonos and Athens trip, we would not name one universal winner. Each hotel has a very distinct personality.

Kalesma’s strength is knowing exactly what it wants to be. It doesn’t try to compete with a large beachfront resort on the number of facilities or with a beach club on atmosphere. It offers a quieter, more intimate version of Mykonos, with the advantage of being close enough to leave whenever you want.

What We Loved

• The views are exceptional. Kalesma and Santa Marina tied for our favorite views of the Mykonos hotels we visited. Our suite’s infinity pool made the scenery feel like part of the room.
• The private pools are much larger than a typical hotel plunge pool. Our heated infinity pool was large enough to actually swim in. The outdoor space also gave us plenty of reason to spend time at the hotel.
• The hotel feels truly peaceful. Kalesma’s hillside setting has a residential, private-village feel. It is remarkably calm for being only about 10 minutes from Mykonos Town.
• The design feels connected to the island. Curved whitewashed buildings and natural materials give the hotel a distinctly Cycladic feel. The indoor-outdoor layout strengthens that connection.
• The small service details stood out. We were welcomed with a ginger-and-honey drink, Cretan wine, and sweets in our room. At breakfast, we asked for mandarins and received a freshly sliced plate.
• Pere Ubu’s breakfast was our favorite breakfast of the entire Greece trip. The setting, food, juices, and relaxed pace all worked. It was a meal we would happily repeat.
• The hotel balances calm and convenience well. We could spend the day exploring Mykonos and return to a quiet hillside retreat.
• The 2026 additions offer guests greater flexibility in choosing their Kalesma experience, with Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites complementing the original private-pool suites and villas. The new Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites offer a lower-entry-price option. The original suites and villas still provide the full private-pool experience.
• The resort is small enough to feel personal. Kalesma is easy to navigate on foot. Electric golf carts are available, but we rarely needed them.
• The wellness program fits the hotel’s vibe. The indoor spa, Open-Air Wellness Sanctuary, hydrotherapy, fitness facilities, and treatments all complement the relaxed pace.

What to Keep in Mind

• There is no private beach. Guests have complimentary access to Ornos and Agios Ioannis, with transportation provided. Travelers who want direct private beach access should look elsewhere.
• There is no kids’ club. Families are welcome, and select accommodations sleep two adults and two children under 12. However, Kalesma is not built around children’s programming.
• The room category matters. Every accommodation has a sea view, but they are not equal. The standard Kalesma Suite has a partial sea view. The Sea View & Private Pool category has a more expansive outlook.
• Kalesma is intentionally quiet. If you want music and activity around the pool all day, this is probably not the right hotel.
• You will need transportation to explore the island. The location is convenient but not walkable to Mykonos Town. You’ll need the hotel shuttle, a car, or private transportation for most outings.
• The two pools have different personalities. The upper pool near Pere Ubu is quieter. The lower pool near Kuveda has more energy because of the newer accommodations around it.
• Confirm some details before booking. Packages, experiences, wellness partnerships, and Virtuoso benefits can change. We recommend confirming anything that is important to your stay.

Kalesma operates seasonally from April through October, with the 2026 season beginning on April 29. The 2027 season will start on April 29th and end October 12th. When to visit depends largely on whether you want Mykonos at its liveliest or would rather trade some of the peak-season energy for fewer crowds and better value.

June Through August

Mid-June through August is peak Mykonos season, when the island’s restaurants, beach clubs, and nightlife are in full swing. Visit during this time if you want the classic summer Mykonos experience, but expect the highest rates, heavier traffic, and larger crowds.

Kalesma has an advantage during these months because the hotel itself remains relatively calm even when the rest of the island is busy. If you want a private-pool suite during peak summer, we recommend booking well in advance.

May, September, and Early October

For us, the shoulder season is particularly appealing at Kalesma. You can still enjoy the outdoor spaces and Aegean setting without the height of summer crowds, and Kalesma’s private pools are heated, so cooler mornings and evenings are less of a concern.

September into early October can also offer particularly good value. Kalesma currently has an Extended Stay offer for stays from September 15 through October 12, 2026, and April 29 through May 20, 2027, with a complimentary third night for every two nights booked, subject to availability and applicable terms. We cover the current offers in more detail below, and you should always reconfirm these dates and inclusions before booking.

How Many Nights Should You Stay at Kalesma?

We think two to three nights works well when Kalesma is part of a larger Greece itinerary. Two nights gives you enough time to experience the hotel while still leaving room for Athens or another island. We would choose three nights at Kalesma if the schedule allows.

Three nights gives you enough time to actually enjoy the private pool, have dinner at Pere Ubu, spend time at the spa or try one of the property’s cultural experiences, and still leave the hotel for Mykonos Town or the beach without feeling as though you barely used the room you paid for.

Is Kalesma close to Mykonos Town and the beach clubs?

Yes. Kalesma is about 10 minutes from Mykonos Town and approximately five minutes from Ornos Beach. The hotel offers complimentary transportation to Mykonos Town and Ornos, so its quieter location does not mean giving up easy access to restaurants, shopping, nightlife, or the beach.

How many rooms does Kalesma have?

Kalesma has 52 accommodations as of 2026. The property includes 12 Deluxe Rooms, 13 Junior Suites, four Kalesma Suites with Private Pools, 13 Kalesma Suites with Sea Views and Private Pools, eight One-Bedroom Villas, and two Grand Villas. You can also combine the Apollon and Artemis Grand Villas to create the seven-bedroom Leto Villa.

Is Kalesma quiet or social?

Kalesma is one of the quieter luxury hotels we experienced in Mykonos. The upper pool near Pere Ubu is particularly peaceful, while the newer lower pool beside Kuveda has a somewhat more social atmosphere because additional accommodations surround it. Neither has the all-day beach-club energy found at some other Mykonos properties.

Is Kalesma good for a honeymoon?

Yes. Kalesma is one of our favorite Mykonos choices for couples and honeymooners, particularly for travelers who prioritize private pools, views, privacy, design, and a quieter atmosphere.

Is Kalesma family-friendly?

Yes, although it is not a family resort in the traditional sense. Families are welcome, select suites accommodate two adults and two children under 12, and Kuveda has a children’s menu. There is no kids’ club, so families looking for extensive children’s programming may prefer Four Seasons Mykonos or Santa Marina.

Can non-hotel guests visit Kalesma?

Yes, in certain areas. Pere Ubu accepts outside guests by reservation, and non-residents can access select wellness experiences.

Is Kalesma on the windy side of Mykonos?

Kalesma is on the southwestern side of the island in Aleomandra, between Ornos and Agios Ioannis. This area is relatively protected compared with some of the more exposed parts of Mykonos, which can be an advantage during the Meltemi season.

Are the private pools at Kalesma heated?

Yes. All of Kalesma’s private pools are heated.

For couples, our first choice would be the Kalesma Suite with Sea View & Private Pool. The combination of the heated infinity pool, generous outdoor space, and more expansive sea view is what makes the original Kalesma experience so compelling. Kalesma operates seasonally from April through October. The 2026 season opened on April 29, and the 2027 season will run from April 29 through October 12th.

Holistic Haven: A four-night minimum stay that includes a private two-hour yoga session, cryotherapy, a 60-minute Dr. Barbara Sturm treatment per person, roundtrip airport or port transfers, a 10% dining privilege at Pere Ubu, a 20% spa privilege on additional treatments, and daily à la carte breakfast.

After spending time at Kalesma and experiencing several of Mykonos’ other leading luxury hotels on the same trip, we left with a clear sense of where this property fits.

Kalesma offers a distinct Mykonos experience, particularly for travelers who value privacy, thoughtful design, expansive sea views, and the luxury of having their own heated pool. Its intimate hillside setting is a wonderful alternative to the island’s larger beachfront resorts, especially for couples and travelers seeking a peaceful retreat within easy reach of Mykonos Town.

The combination of the hillside setting, Cycladic architecture, heated private pools, expansive Aegean views, and proximity to Mykonos Town creates a balance that is difficult to replicate. You can spend the day exploring the island and return to a property that feels quiet and almost removed from it. The rooms are large enough to make staying in feel worthwhile, and the private pools are substantial enough that they are not simply an attractive feature for a quick dip.

We were also pleasantly surprised by how calm Kalesma felt, even while staying so close to everything. That contrast ended up being one of our favorite things about the hotel. The island can be busy, particularly during the summer, but Kalesma gives you the option to step away from that energy without actually being far from it.

The 2026 additions also make the property more accessible. The new Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites give travelers who do not need a private pool a lower-priced way to experience Kalesma, while the original suites and villas remain the better choice when the hotel itself is meant to be a major part of the trip.

For us, the private-pool experience is still the reason to book Kalesma when the budget allows. If the view is particularly important, we would be very specific about booking the Kalesma Suite with Sea View & Private Pool rather than assuming every private-pool category offers the same outlook. Our infinity pool and the view beyond it were among the highlights of our entire Mykonos stay.

Most of all, Kalesma knows what it wants to be. It is a quiet, design-focused Mykonos retreat where the landscape is as important as the room, and where the best parts of the stay are often the simplest ones: swimming in your private pool, watching the sunset, lingering over breakfast at Pere Ubu, or coming back from Mykonos Town to a hillside that feels wonderfully still.
