One&Only Aesthesis: A Complete Review

One&Only Aesthesis sits on the seafront in Glyfada, on the Athenian Riviera, roughly 30 minutes from Athens International Airport, central Athens, and the cruise terminal. For a resort this close to a major city, the setting is surprisingly secluded. The property spans 21 hectares of protected pine forest, with six hectares permanently protected from future construction, while the low-rise accommodations largely disappear into the landscape.

The result is a resort that feels much farther from Athens than it actually is.  The resort’s low-rise design blends into the surrounding landscape with bungalows and villas tucked among the trees. During our stay, we understood exactly what the team meant when they described the property as feeling like you are “in the countryside or on an island.” It has the privacy and sense of escape we’d normally associate with a Greek island resort, without requiring another flight or ferry.

The resort sits directly on the Saronic Gulf, with a true beachfront setting and relatively calm, swimmable water. The main pool and beach are directly in front of the welcome building, while the Private Homes are tucked farther into the property around the adults-only Mystiko Beach.

Glyfada offers a very different experience from historic central Athens. It is a modern, upscale coastal neighborhood with international shopping, restaurants, and a distinctly Riviera atmosphere. Travelers looking for the ancient history, traditional neighborhoods, and cultural landmarks that define central Athens will want to plan time in the city, which is easily accessible from the resort.

That is why we would not choose Aesthesis as the base for a culture-first Athens trip. The Acropolis and central Athens are approximately 30 minutes away, so a day of sightseeing is easy enough. We think the hotel works better when the resort is the destination, and Athens is the excursion.

We also appreciate the property’s approach to outside visitors. Non-hotel guests can only access the front section and must have a confirmed reservation before arriving. During our visit, the resort was operating at approximately 85% occupancy, yet it never felt like a crowded city hotel.

Our Take: The location is one of Aesthesis’ biggest strengths, but only if you understand what you’re booking. We love that you can have a proper beach-resort experience and still reach the Acropolis in roughly half an hour. For a first-time Athens visitor who wants to explore the city every day, we’d stay closer to the center. For someone who wants privacy, beach time, and a luxurious retreat with the option to spend a day in Athens, this location is hard to beat.

Arrival at One&Only Aesthesis feels appropriately theatrical from the moment you pull up. The resort’s house car is a gunmetal-grey BMW 7 Series with a uniformed driver, and guests are welcomed with an iced citrus cooler served in green ribbed glassware on an olive wood board. The details are polished without feeling overly formal.

One of the first things you’ll notice is the resort’s use of QR codes. Check-in begins with a QR code, and once you’re settled in, WhatsApp becomes the primary way to communicate with the resort. Need a buggy? Send a message. Have a question about your room? Message the team. Want help arranging something? It all happens through WhatsApp. We found the system easy and genuinely convenient.

Every One&Only has its own welcome ritual, and at Aesthesis that means ringing a bell in the lobby. They did it for us when we arrived, which was a fun little detail and a nice introduction to the property’s personality.

The resort is very walkable thanks to its relatively flat layout, but complimentary buggies are available whenever you need one. Guests cannot drive the buggies themselves. During our summer visit, they were even dressed in the property’s seasonal Burberry collaboration. Complimentary One&Only bicycles are another option for getting around, and guests can use them to explore the property and connect with cycling paths along the Glyfada coastline. We recommend looking at the resort map before your stay to get a better sense of how the different accommodation areas, pools, beaches, restaurants, and amenities are laid out.

We couldn’t check in early, which was understandable given the resort was operating at around 85% occupancy. Instead, we had lunch while they prepared our room. Once it was ready, a buggy took us to our bungalow, where a team member came in and walked us through the room and its features.

We had also been upgraded to a Sea View Bungalow, which made the wait well worth it. Waiting in the room was a particularly thoughtful welcome amenity: Veuve Clicquot on ice with two glasses, a handwritten note from management, a small individual cake finished with gold leaf, a bowl of fresh fruit, and sunflowers. Everything was arranged with two full place settings, so it felt intentionally set up as a welcome rather than simply a collection of amenities left on a counter.

One&Only Aesthesis has 141 accommodations, but the numbers alone don’t tell the most interesting part of the story. The main building has 12 Aesthesis Rooms, plus 90 bungalows, a limited number of suites, and 14 Private Homes. What makes the accommodation program particularly impressive is how many of those categories can adapt to how you’re actually traveling.

In fact, we’d argue that the accommodation setup is one of Aesthesis’ biggest strengths. The bungalow system solves the separate-sleeping-space problem for families, the beachfront suites create an unusually private beach experience, and the villas can be combined into larger compounds for multigenerational groups. This is a property where choosing the right category matters, and we recommend deciding based on how you plan to use the resort rather than simply booking the largest room available.

Aesthesis Rooms

The Aesthesis Rooms are the resort’s entry-level accommodations and are located inside the main welcome building. There are only 12, making this the smallest accommodation category by a considerable margin and, according to the team, the one that tends to sell out first.

Four rooms face the landscaped gardens and represent the most affordable option, while the Sea View Rooms face the water. One particularly useful feature for families is that neighboring rooms can connect, typically pairing one King room with a room with two Queen beds.

If you’re booking these rooms for the lower rate, we’d book early. There are only 12, and once they’re gone, the next step up is the bungalow category. That said, if your budget allows, we would choose a bungalow over a room in the main building. The privacy, private pool, gardens, and indoor outdoor living are such a defining part of the Aesthesis experience that we think the bungalows are where the resort really comes into its own.

The Bungalows

The 90 bungalows are the signature accommodation at One&Only Aesthesis, and this is where the resort really sets itself apart. Every bungalow has a private pool, a front garden, and a rear garden, with categories ranging from Garden View to Sea View and Sea Front.

A useful feature for families and groups: many neighboring bungalows are separated by a private gate, offering the convenience of connecting accommodations while maintaining the privacy of separate residences.

For families, the preferred setup is one King bungalow paired with one Two-Queen bungalow, connected through the backyard. We think this is genuinely brilliant. Parents can have their own space, children can have their own room, and everyone still has easy access to one another without sacrificing the privacy of separate accommodations.

Our Sea View Bungalow had a private pool with steps and a handrail, two teak loungers, a large outdoor daybed, a dining table and chairs, olive trees, and wooden slat privacy fencing on either side. The sliding doors opened the bedroom completely onto the terrace, which made the indoor-outdoor setup feel particularly natural.

We also appreciated the small safety details. Each bungalow pool has a One&Only-branded life ring and reaching pole mounted on the fence, something families will appreciate when traveling with younger children.

Inside, the bathroom uses white and grey marble with black fixtures, and Montroi toiletries come in large refillable bottles in the custom Riviera Nostos scent. Our bungalow also had a dry-brush kit alongside the bathtub. The minibar leaned heavily into Greek products, including Theoni mineral water in glass bottles, Greek wines, Dathenes lager, and Ésophy Mediterranean chocolate, alongside more familiar options such as Veuve Clicquot.

Suites, Including the Beachfront Suites With Their Own Sand

A limited number of One-Bedroom Suites are positioned among the bungalows. These don’t sit directly on a sandy beach, but they do offer direct access to the sea via a ladder. The water in this area is calm, swimmable, and safe, making the setup particularly appealing for travelers who prioritize getting directly into the Aegean over having a traditional beach directly outside their door.

The standout, however, is the Two-Bedroom Beachfront Suite. Open the terrace doors, and you can step directly onto the beach, with the stretch of sand immediately in front of the suite reserved exclusively for those guests. Other guests can walk along the shoreline, but they cannot sit or set up on that section of beach.

Technically, it isn’t a private beach. In practice, it comes remarkably close, and we think this is one of the most compelling accommodations at the resort for a family or group that wants genuine beachfront privacy.

The Private Homes

There are 14 Private Homes, and this is where Aesthesis becomes particularly interesting for larger groups. Most begin as two-bedroom villas, but the configurations are remarkably flexible, ranging from one-bedroom and two-bedroom options to three-, four-, and six-bedroom compounds. Multiple villas can connect through their gardens, allowing the accommodation to grow with the group size while maintaining privacy.

For multigenerational families, large groups, and privacy-sensitive travelers, we think this is a major advantage. You aren’t forced into a single enormous villa simply because you need more bedrooms. Instead, the property can create a private compound tailored to the group.

Villa One

Every One&Only resort has a Villa One, and the Aesthesis version is an impressive beachfront residence of approximately 1,000 square meters. It has two bedrooms, a large private pool, a BBQ area, and enough outdoor space for private events.

Villa Nostos

Villa Nostos is also beachfront and has two bedrooms. More importantly, it can connect externally with Villa One to create a four-bedroom beachfront compound. For a family or group that wants the privacy of a villa but needs more bedrooms, this is a particularly clever configuration.

• Couples: We’d start with a Seafront Bungalow or the Two-Bedroom Beachfront Suite for a special occasion.
• Families of three or four: A Family Bungalow works well, but we’d seriously consider two gated bungalows, with one King and one Two-Queen, for more space and privacy.
• Multigenerational groups: Consider connected bungalows or a Private Home configured to your group’s size.
• Privacy-first travelers: The Private Homes offer the greatest sense of seclusion, particularly in the villa section near Mystiko Beach.
• Travelers watching the budget: The Aesthesis Rooms are the entry point, but with only 12 available, we’d book them early.

One&Only Aesthesis Accommodation Comparison

Our Take: There isn’t one universally “best” room at One&Only Aesthesis. The right choice depends heavily on who you’re traveling with and what matters most: a private pool, direct beach access, sea views, connecting space, or complete privacy. For families, we think the gated bungalow system is one of the smartest accommodation concepts we’ve seen at a Greek luxury resort. For a milestone trip, we’d have a particularly hard time passing up the Two-Bedroom Beachfront Suite. And for larger groups, the flexibility of the Private Homes is a genuine advantage.

The beach and pool setup at One&Only Aesthesis is one of the property’s strongest features. The main pool and beach sit directly in front of the welcome building overlooking the Saronic Gulf, with pool cabanas on one side and beach cabanas on the other. Every bungalow and villa also has its own private pool, so guests aren’t competing for the best lounger or waiting for a quiet moment around a shared pool.

The main beach is a genuine resort beach, with calm, swimmable water that makes it particularly appealing for families. Minima sits beside the pool and serves cocktails, Greek wines, burgers, salads, and Mediterranean snacks throughout the day. During our summer visit, the entire area was dressed in the seasonal Burberry collaboration, including umbrellas, towels, and even the resort buggies. That collaboration is seasonal, so we would not consider it a permanent part of the Aesthesis experience.

For a completely different atmosphere, Mystiko Beach is tucked into the resort’s Private Homes section and is adults-only. Its name means “secret,” fitting for this small, quiet beach hidden behind the pine trees. Unlike the resort’s main beach, which has views of the developed Glyfada coastline, Mystiko faces out toward the open sea and offers a more intimate setting away from the energy of the main resort.

Our Take: We love that Aesthesis offers several ways to experience the water. The main beach is large and sandy, with a lively Athenian Riviera atmosphere, while Mystiko Beach offers a more secluded alternative. Every bungalow has its own private pool, some with direct access to the sea, and families can also enjoy a dedicated kids’ pool.

Dining at One&Only Aesthesis is varied enough that you could easily spend several days eating on property without repeating the same type of experience. The lineup ranges from the refined Mediterranean cooking at ORA by Ettore Botrini to the Peruvian beach-club atmosphere of Manko, along with Japanese, Greek, and adults-only aperitivo options.

The important distinction is that the dining program is more elevated and international than traditionally Greek. We enjoyed the Greek influences throughout the resort, but if experiencing classic Greek taverna food is a major part of your trip, we’d still plan some meals in central Athens. Trigli is the property’s answer for traditional Greek cuisine, while the other restaurants take a more contemporary approach.

ORA by Ettore Botrini

ORA is the resort’s primary restaurant and sits directly beside the main pool. The cuisine is contemporary Mediterranean, blending Greek and Italian influences, which makes sense given Chef Ettore Botrini’s Greek and Italian heritage and reputation as one of Greece’s best-known Michelin-starred chefs.

Breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and dinner from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Virtuoso guests also receive their included daily breakfast benefit.

We had lunch here during our stay and ordered an Aperol Spritz, tzatziki, and grilled octopus. The tzatziki was, honestly, the best we’ve ever had. ORA feels refined without becoming overly formal, and its location beside the pool makes it an easy choice for a leisurely lunch or breakfast before heading to the beach.

Manko was the dining experience that really stayed with us. The restaurant combines Peruvian cuisine with a beach-club atmosphere, offering leisurely lunches, cocktails, and DJ-driven nights from Friday through Sunday. The beach experience operates during the day, while the atmosphere becomes more energetic as the evening unfolds. 

We had dinner here during our stay, and it was our favorite meal of the entire trip. We ordered the Ceviche Nikkei with yellowfin tuna, avocado, toasted choclo corn, shiso cress, and ponzu-rocoto leche de tigre; the Limeño Crudo with white fish, choclo corn, coriander oil, sweet potato, red chili, and creamy aji amarillo leche de tigre; and the Octopus Anticucho with grilled octopus, anticuchera sauce, potato parmentier, chimichurri, crispy garlic, and dried Kalamata olives.

The Limeño Crudo was a standout, but the entire meal was excellent, and the setting made the experience even more memorable. We sat on a deck just above the sand with steps leading directly down to the beach, and watched the most beautiful sunset we’ve ever seen. Even once the DJ started and the beach-club atmosphere picked up, it never felt overwhelmingly crowded. Instead, it felt like the kind of dinner that naturally turns into a night out.

Manko also connects to the Manko District, a luxury retail village, which adds another layer to the experience. For travelers who want resort dining to feel like a destination rather than simply a hotel restaurant, this is one of the strongest parts of Aesthesis.

The Rest of the Dining Lineup

Sumosan is the resort’s contemporary Japanese restaurant, set directly on the beachfront and currently operating as a seasonal summer concept. The resort itself is open year-round, so if you’re visiting outside the summer months, we’d confirm whether Sumosan is operating during your stay.

Trigli is the property’s traditional Greek taverna, with a focus on fresh seafood and meze. If you’re looking for the most traditionally Greek dining experience without leaving the resort, this is where we’d start.

Terrazza Campari is an adults-only rooftop aperitivo bar overlooking the Gulf, open in the evenings. It is a natural choice for a pre-dinner drink or a relaxed evening when you don’t want a full restaurant experience.

Minima is the pool bar, serving cocktails, Greek wines, burgers, salads, and Mediterranean snacks throughout the day. It is especially convenient when you want something casual without leaving the pool.

Mystiko Beach also offers private dining and a vintage food truck in the Private Homes section.

Our Take: We were impressed by the variety, particularly because the restaurants don’t all feel like variations of the same hotel dining concept. ORA is refined and Mediterranean, Manko is lively and memorable, Trigli offers the traditional Greek option, and the remaining venues cover everything from Japanese to casual poolside dining. Manko was unquestionably our favorite, and we’d specifically recommend planning dinner there around sunset. Just keep in mind that Aesthesis is not where we’d send someone looking for a deeply traditional Greek culinary experience. For that, we’d leave the resort and eat in Athens.

One&Only Aesthesis is home to the only Guerlain Spa in Greece, which immediately makes the wellness offering a little more interesting than the standard luxury-resort spa. The menu includes signature Guerlain rituals alongside more modern treatments and recovery-focused facilities, including a cryosauna, LED therapy, and a dedicated Wellness Reset program.

The spa is much more than treatment rooms. A Bastien Gonzalez nail studio, beauty salon, hair salon, Glamour Studio, and personal training make it possible to build an entire wellness or beauty day without leaving the property.

For travelers who are serious about fitness, Club One is the resort’s dedicated fitness and activities center. Guests can play tennis, padel, yoga, Pilates, cycling, coastal running routes, personal training, and even Greek dance classes. ATP- and WTA-level professionals teach private tennis and padel lessons, which is a particularly nice option for clients who want to maintain a serious training routine while traveling.

One detail we especially liked for families is the Bee School by Guerlain, a treatment designed specifically for children. It is an unusual offering and another example of how the resort has built wellness into the family experience rather than treating the spa as an adults-only space.

One thing worth noting: Aesthesis has no pickleball courts. For travelers who prioritize pickleball when choosing a resort, we’d flag this before booking.

Our Take: The Guerlain Spa is a real selling point, especially for travelers who care about beauty and wellness rather than just wanting a massage on vacation. We also like that the fitness programming extends well beyond a traditional gym. Between the spa, Club One, tennis and padel, and outdoor activities, it is easy to build a wellness-focused stay here. The children’s Guerlain experience is the kind of small detail we would specifically mention to families, since it is unusual to find that level of thought given to kids’ spa programming.

The kids’ club at One&Only Aesthesis is one of the property’s biggest surprises, and one of the strongest family amenities we’ve seen at a Greek luxury resort. The space is unusually large, with substantial indoor and outdoor areas, a playground, shaded spaces, its own stone water fountain, and a dedicated kids’ pool. It feels like a real destination within the resort, not a small room where children can spend an hour.

KidsOnly is complimentary for children ages 4 to 11 and focuses on nature, creativity, and outdoor exploration. That programming makes particularly good use of the property’s setting, with the surrounding forest providing plenty of room for activities beyond the typical arts and crafts you’d find at a hotel kids’ club.

For older children, Tribe is designed for ages 12 to 17. Teens can take advantage of the tennis courts and forest trails, giving them more independence and activities that actually feel age-appropriate rather than like an extension of the younger kids’ program.

The resort has also found ways to incorporate children into its wellness offering. The Guerlain Spa’s Bee School by Guerlain is a treatment designed specifically for children, which is a genuinely unusual touch and something we’d mention to families considering the property.

What makes the kids’ club particularly compelling, though, is how it works alongside the accommodations. The gated bungalow system lets parents book separate sleeping spaces for children while still creating one connected outdoor area, and the resort’s family-friendly facilities mean there is plenty to do without leaving the property.

The kids’ club was also one of the most pleasant surprises of our stay. We think it is one of the property’s strongest selling points for families and something we’d specifically call out when recommending Aesthesis to a client.

The property is also pet-friendly, which is another nice consideration for families who don’t want to leave every member of the household behind.

Our Take: Families should not overlook One&Only Aesthesis simply because it has such a polished, design-forward aesthetic. The family programming is excellent, but it doesn’t compromise the resort’s overall feel. Between KidsOnly, Tribe, the dedicated kids’ pool, the bungalow configurations, and the children’s Guerlain experience, Aesthesis has put considerably more thought into family travel than its glamorous image might initially suggest. For families looking for a luxury Greek resort where adults can still feel like they’re on a sophisticated vacation, this is one of the property’s biggest advantages.

One&Only Aesthesis has its own private dock, which opens up an entirely different way to experience the Athenian Riviera. Guests can arrange private yacht charters for half-day or full-day excursions, including trips to nearby islands or Cape Sounion. For a special occasion, we’d particularly recommend heading toward the Temple of Poseidon around sunset.

The more unusual option is the dock-to-dock transfer between One&Only Aesthesis and One&Only Kea Island. The journey takes approximately 90 minutes by yacht, taking guests directly from one resort to the other without an airport, ferry terminal, or additional ground transfer in between.

We think this creates a particularly compelling two-property Greece itinerary. Aesthesis offers the glamorous Riviera experience, with private pools, a beach, restaurants, and proximity to Athens. One&Only Kea offers the more remote Greek island experience. Rather than choosing between the two, we think they complement each other extremely well.

The private dock also makes it easy to incorporate Athens sightseeing without committing your entire stay to the city. The Acropolis and central Athens are roughly 30 minutes away, so you can spend a day exploring the major sites and then return to the resort for the beach, pool, or dinner.

For travelers arriving or departing by cruise, the proximity to the cruise terminal is another practical advantage, with the resort roughly 30 minutes away.

Our Take: The dock is one of those amenities that becomes more valuable the more you think about how Aesthesis fits into a larger Greece itinerary. We wouldn’t necessarily recommend staying here solely to use the dock, but the ability to travel directly between Aesthesis and One&Only Kea by yacht is a fantastic option. If you’re already planning a Greece trip that combines Athens, the Riviera, and an island, this is one of the more interesting ways to structure it.

One&Only Aesthesis answers a different question than Greece’s luxury island resorts. It is a year-round Riviera retreat with a genuine beach, private pools, residential-style accommodations, and easy access to Athens. Rather than ranking it against every luxury hotel in the country, we think the better question is which experience you actually want. Here is how we’d think about the main alternatives.

One&Only Aesthesis vs. Four Seasons Astir Palace Athens: Which Is Better?

If you are deciding between One&Only Aesthesis and Four Seasons Astir Palace, the biggest difference is atmosphere. Four Seasons offers a more established, traditional luxury resort experience, while One&Only Aesthesis feels newer, more residential, and more design focused.

Four Seasons Astir Palace is the more established grande dame of the Athenian Riviera and the natural comparison for anyone considering a luxury beach resort near Athens. It offers a larger, more traditional resort experience, three private beaches, and the attentive service that Four Seasons is known for. Aesthesis feels newer and more design-driven. The mid-century aesthetic is more distinctive, while the bungalow-and-villa layout gives the property a more residential sense of privacy. We also think Aesthesis offers a stronger accommodation setup for families, particularly because you can connect neighboring bungalows through their private garden gates.

Choose Four Seasons Astir Palace if: Four Seasons loyalty, a more established resort environment, or the traditional Four Seasons experience is your priority.

Choose One&Only Aesthesis if: Design, privacy, private pools, and the bungalow or villa format are more important to you.

One&Only Aesthesis vs. Mykonos

This is less a direct comparison and more a question of what you want from Greece.

Mykonos gives you the island experience: whitewashed architecture, beach clubs, restaurants, nightlife, and the feeling of actually being on a Greek island. Aesthesis offers Riviera glamour, a more substantial resort experience, and proximity to Athens without another flight or ferry.

We toured several luxury properties in Mykonos on the same Greece trip, and we think the two destinations work better together than as competitors. Spend a few nights experiencing Mykonos, then finish in Athens at Aesthesis, or reverse the order.

Aesthesis also has a practical advantage: it operates year-round, while many luxury resorts on Mykonos close during the winter.

Choose Mykonos if: The island itself, beach clubs, nightlife, and Cycladic atmosphere are central to your trip.

Choose One&Only Aesthesis if: You want a resort-first experience with a beach, private pool, spa, and easy access to Athens.

One&Only Aesthesis vs. One&Only Kea Island

Of all the comparisons, this is the one we’d least frame as an either/or decision.

Aesthesis is the Riviera expression of One&Only. It offers beach-resort glamour, mid-century design, easy access to Athens, and a more connected setting.

One&Only Kea Island offers a more remote island experience, with the feeling of truly getting away from everything. The two properties are also connected by yacht, with a dock-to-dock transfer taking roughly 90 minutes.

Our recommendation: Do both. Aesthesis and Kea complement each other exceptionally well, giving you two very different sides of Greece without having to navigate another airport or ferry connection between them.

Our Take: We would not tell a client that One&Only Aesthesis is simply “better” than these alternatives. It is better for a particular type of traveler. If you want Athens and the Riviera, choose Aesthesis. If you want Cycladic island life, choose Mykonos. If you want a remote Greek island retreat, choose Kea. And if you have the time, combining Aesthesis with either Mykonos or Kea creates a much more complete Greece itinerary.

One of the biggest advantages of One&Only Aesthesis is that it operates year-round. That makes it a particularly strong option for travelers who want a Greek resort experience outside the traditional summer season, when many luxury hotels on Mykonos and other islands have closed.

Peak Summer: June through August

Summer is when the Athenian Riviera is at its liveliest. The beach and pools are in full operation, the water is warmest, seasonal concepts and collaborations are in place, and Manko’s Friday through Sunday evenings bring the most energy to the resort.

This is also when we’d expect the highest demand and rates. During our visit, the resort was operating at approximately 85% occupancy, and we’d recommend booking the more limited accommodation categories well in advance, particularly the 12 Aesthesis Rooms, beachfront suites, and specific bungalow categories.

Shoulder Season: May and September through October

If your schedule allows, we think the shoulder season could be the sweet spot. You’ll still have the beach and warm Mediterranean weather, but generally with a more relaxed atmosphere than peak summer.

The current Night on Us promotion also makes this period particularly worth considering, with a four-night stay for the price of three available for stays from June 1 through October 14, 2026. Always confirm promotional terms at the time of booking.

Off-Season: November through April

This is where Aesthesis has a major advantage over the Greek islands. The resort remains open during the winter, making it possible to combine the spa, wellness facilities, restaurants that are operating seasonally, and a day or two exploring Athens without dealing with the limitations of an island resort’s off-season.

That said, we’d confirm which restaurants and seasonal facilities are operating before booking a winter stay. Sumosan, for example, is currently a summer-seasonal concept.

How Long Should You Stay?

For a resort-focused Athens trip, we’d recommend three to four nights. That gives you enough time to enjoy the beach, pool, spa, and dining while leaving one full day for the Acropolis and central Athens.

If you’re combining Aesthesis with Mykonos or One&Only Kea Island, two to three nights can work well as the front or back end of the itinerary. For families staying in a bungalow or villa compound, however, we could easily see spending a full week here, particularly if the goal is to slow down and actually enjoy the resort rather than constantly sightseeing.

Our Take: We think Aesthesis is most compelling in the shoulder season for travelers who have flexibility, but its year-round operation is the bigger story. It gives you something that most Greek luxury resorts cannot: a proper resort experience in Greece even when the islands are quiet or closed. For summer travelers, book early. For everyone else, Aesthesis’s flexibility makes it worth considering well beyond the traditional Greek vacation season.

Where is One&Only Aesthesis located?

One&Only Aesthesis is located in Glyfada on the Athenian Riviera, roughly 30 minutes from Athens International Airport, central Athens, and the cruise terminal. The resort sits within 21 hectares of protected pine forest on the Saronic Gulf, with six hectares permanently protected from future construction.

Is One&Only Aesthesis close to the Acropolis?

Yes. The Acropolis and central Athens are approximately 30 minutes from the resort, depending on traffic. That makes it easy to spend a day sightseeing before returning to the beach or pool. However, if your trip is primarily about Athens’ historic sites, food, and culture, we’d choose a hotel in the city center. Aesthesis works better when the resort is the destination, and Athens is an excursion.

Do the bungalows at One&Only Aesthesis have private pools?

Yes. All 90 bungalows have a private pool, plus a front and rear garden. The bungalow categories include Garden View, Sea View, and Sea Front, along with family configurations.

There is also a particularly clever family setup that isn’t immediately obvious from the standard room descriptions. Many neighboring bungalows are separated by a fence with a gate, allowing two bungalows to function as one larger accommodation. We think this is one of the smartest family accommodation solutions we’ve seen at a Greek luxury resort.

What is the best room at One&Only Aesthesis?

It depends on who is traveling. For couples, we’d look at a Sea Front Bungalow for its private pool and proximity to the water, or the Two-Bedroom Beachfront Suite for a special occasion. The Beachfront Suite is particularly unusual because the sand directly in front of the terrace is reserved exclusively for those guests.

For families, we’d consider a Family Bungalow or two neighboring bungalows connected through the garden gate. Larger multigenerational groups should look at the Private Homes, which can be configured from one bedroom up to six-bedroom compounds.

Is One&Only Aesthesis good for families?

Yes. We’d consider it one of the stronger luxury-resort options in Greece for families. KidsOnly is complimentary for children ages 4 to 11 and has extensive indoor and outdoor space, a playground, shaded areas, its own kids’ pool, and nature-focused programming. Tribe serves teens ages 12 to 17, with access to activities including the tennis courts and forest trails.

The accommodation setup is another major advantage. Connecting Aesthesis Rooms and the gated bungalow configuration give families genuinely useful options for separate sleeping spaces without completely separating everyone. The spa even offers a Bee School by Guerlain treatment designed for children.

What restaurants are at One&Only Aesthesis?

The dining lineup includes ORA by Ettore Botrini, Manko, Sumosan, Trigli, Terrazza Campari, and Minima, along with private dining and the food truck at Mystiko Beach.

ORA is the resort’s primary restaurant and serves contemporary Mediterranean cuisine with Greek and Italian influences. Manko is the Peruvian restaurant and beach club and was our favorite meal of the entire Greece trip. Trigli is the property’s traditional Greek taverna, while Sumosan offers contemporary Japanese cuisine in a beachfront setting.

Our honest advice: the dining is elevated and international rather than deeply traditional Greek. If classic taverna culture is important to your trip, we’d plan some meals in central Athens.

Does One&Only Aesthesis have a spa?

Yes. One&Only Aesthesis is home to Greece’s only Guerlain Spa. The spa offers signature Guerlain rituals, cryosauna, LED therapy, personal training, and a Wellness Reset program, along with a Bastien Gonzalez nail studio, beauty salon, hair salon, and Glamour Studio.

Club One also offers tennis, padel, yoga, Pilates, cycling, coastal running routes, personal training, and Greek dance classes. ATP- and WTA-level professionals teach private tennis and padel lessons. There are no pickleball courts.

Is One&Only Aesthesis open year-round?

Yes. This is one of the property’s biggest advantages. Unlike many luxury resorts on Mykonos and other Greek islands that close for the winter, Aesthesis operates year-round.

Some individual venues are seasonal, however, so we’d confirm restaurant and activity availability before planning an off-season stay.

Can you visit both One&Only resorts in Greece in one trip?

Yes, and we think this is one of the most interesting ways to combine the two. One&Only Aesthesis and One&Only Kea Island connect via a dock-to-dock yacht transfer that takes about 90 minutes.

The two resorts offer very different experiences. Aesthesis is the glamorous Athenian Riviera retreat, while Kea offers a more remote Greek island experience. Rather than choosing one over the other, we’d recommend a split stay for travelers with enough time.

Its biggest strengths are the beautiful mid-century design, expansive protected forest setting, private-pool bungalows, exceptional family accommodation configurations, beachfront suites with exclusive stretches of sand, flexible Private Homes, the only Guerlain Spa in Greece, and a dining lineup that includes our favorite meal of the entire Greece trip at Manko.

The trade-offs are equally clear. This isn’t where we’d stay if our priority were exploring Athens every day, and it doesn’t deliver the traditional Greek-island fantasy of whitewashed villages and Cycladic architecture. Glyfada itself feels modern and international, and the resort’s dining is more elevated and globally influenced than traditionally Greek.

What We Loved

• The setting. We were surprised by how secluded Aesthesis feels despite being only about 30 minutes from central Athens. The combination of protected pine forest, low-rise architecture, and the Saronic Gulf makes it feel much more like an island retreat than an urban resort.
• The bungalows. Every bungalow has a private pool and gardens, but the gated configuration between neighboring bungalows is the real standout. It is one of the smartest family accommodation setups we’ve seen at a Greek luxury resort.
• The Two-Bedroom Beachfront Suite. Opening the terrace doors and stepping directly onto a stretch of sand reserved exclusively for the suite is a genuinely special feature.
• The villas. The ability to configure the Private Homes from smaller accommodations into compounds of up to six bedrooms is exceptionally useful for multigenerational families and larger groups.
• The kids’ club. This is one of the largest and most impressive kids’ clubs we’ve seen, and the resort surprisingly under-markets it.
• The Guerlain Spa. Having the only Guerlain Spa in Greece gives Aesthesis a real wellness differentiator, particularly when combined with Club One’s extensive fitness and sports programming.
• Manko. This was our favorite meal of the entire Greece trip. The food was excellent, the sunset was incredible, and the beachside setting and lively evening atmosphere made it one of those hotel experiences we’ll remember.
• The privacy. The protected forest, private pools, villa compounds, controlled outside access, and low-rise design make the resort feel remarkably private.
• The Kea connection. The ability to travel directly from Aesthesis to One&Only Kea Island by yacht creates a genuinely interesting two-property Greece itinerary.
• The year-round operation. Aesthesis gives travelers a proper luxury beach resort option in Greece even when many of the country’s island properties are closed for the season.

What to Keep in Mind

• The location for a first-time Athens trip. We love being close enough to visit the Acropolis, but we would not recommend Aesthesis as the primary base for someone whose main goal is experiencing Athens.
• The immediate neighborhood. Glyfada is convenient and upscale, but it lacks the history and character of central Athens. Expect international shopping rather than charming historic streets and traditional neighborhood culture.
• The Greek dining experience. The food at Aesthesis is excellent, but the overall dining program is elevated and international. We’d like to see more of the traditional Greek taverna experience represented, although Trigli does provide that option.
• The kids’ club deserves more attention. We think this is one of the resort’s strongest and perhaps most unexpected selling points for families. The facilities and programming impressed us considerably, and families considering Aesthesis should absolutely know how much is available here.
• Allow extra time at the airport. While our flight into Athens from Mykonos was seamless, Athens International Airport was particularly busy on the day of our departure. We would recommend allowing plenty of time for an ATH departure and considering fast track assistance when available, particularly during peak summer travel periods.

Our Final Verdict: If your ideal Greece trip centers on ancient history, traditional food, and exploring Athens from morning to night, we’d stay in the city. If your dream is the whitewashed-island experience, we’d send you to Mykonos or Santorini. But if you want a sophisticated beach resort with private pools, exceptional family accommodations, serious wellness facilities, excellent dining, and the ability to reach Athens when you want to, One&Only Aesthesis is one of the most interesting luxury options in Greece.

For us, the best way to think about Aesthesis is as the Riviera bookend to a Greece itinerary. Pair it with Mykonos for island energy, pair it with Kea for a more authentic island experience, or simply use it as a resort escape after a few days exploring Athens. It is not trying to be the Cyclades, and we think the resort is better for knowing exactly what it is.

The Two-Bedroom Beachfront Suite may be worth prioritizing for its exclusive stretch of sand. Are you traveling with grandparents, siblings, or a larger multigenerational group? The Private Homes can be configured into larger compounds rather than forcing everyone into one conventional villa.

And perhaps most importantly, we’ll tell you if we don’t think Aesthesis is the right hotel for your trip. If you are visiting Athens for the first time and want to spend your days exploring the Acropolis, museums, neighborhoods, and restaurants, we’d rather recommend a hotel in the city center.
